Whether it be through their generous gifts of time, talent, or treasure, DARE would not be able to accomplish its mission without the unique individuals, staff, volunteers, and donors who have contributed and continue to contribute to the special DARE mission.
We owe a debt of gratitude to everyone who has made DARE a reality.

Our Staff:

Brett Hartford, Executive Director

Born and raised in Lawrence, and a graduate of Free State High School, Brett has spent his life working in non-profit organizations, with a strong focus on making friends out of strangers and resources tangible and accessible. From a Bible college working in the projects of Orlando, Florida, to a multi-site church in New Jersey, Brett loves making new friends out of strangers and learning about how diversity makes us better, collectively. Brett spent 10 years with City Relief, an organization that serves people experiencing homelessness in the New York City Metro area. In his time there, he gained ground-level experience working face to face with guests to learn their needs and provide direct services, was the Director of Outreaches, Director of Operations, and finished his time there working on their development team in the role of Director of Partnerships, fundraising and speaking across the country on the subject of homelessness and poverty.

Additionally, Brett has served for the past 14 years in the New Jersey National Guard, where he is a musician and plays low brass in the 63rd Army Band.

Outside of work, Brett has been married for 15 years to his childhood best friend, Renee, and together they have two daughters; Selah, 9, and Talita, 6.

Brett loves finding adventures with his family, running, eating good food, and chopping wood.
