The DARE Center offers a place of refuge and an increased accessibility to resources for people experiencing homelessness or are at-risk of homelessness. DARE operates 2:00 to 6:00 PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, (Community Workday Wednesdays) at 944 Kentucky Street. DARE provides the basic necessities, such as a shower, washer and dryer, coffee, and an inviting place to come in and get off of the street.

In addition to providing basic services, The Dare Center actively encourages community discussion on the issue of homelessness, with an emphasis on how homelessness affects local people and our community as a whole. While these conversations are welcomed anytime, town hall type of meetings will also be scheduled. The goal of these conversations is to spread awareness by listening to those close to the issue, and by developing meaningful outcomes, both on a micro (individual) and macro (Douglas County) level.
